Strongly condemning the killing of an innocent civilian, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, at Panzgam Kupwara by the security forces, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani demanded a fair probe.

Geelani announced to hold a condolence meeting in the memory of the slain civilian in Panzgam Kupwara on Sunday. He appealed to the people to participate in the event.

Rejecting the statement of District Collector of Kupwara for initiating an inquiry in the case, Geelani said that state level inquiry commissions are unacceptable as till now not a single culprit was brought to book.

While blaming the forces, Geelani blamed the state administration for unleashing violent measures against civilians. He expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the family of slain Gh Hassan.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) has strongly condemned the arrest of chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, along with her secretary Fahmeeda Sofi.

“It is highly deplorable that forces raided their residence and jumped above gate and entered premises to arrest them. The forces are not following any ethics or respecting the dignity of women.”

Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that her detention is unjustified and Aasiya Andrabi is suffering from multiple ailments. He warned authorities, “If anything untoward happens to her, administration shall have to face consequences.”

He appealed the human rights organization to take cognizance.

Hurriyat Conference (G) expressed its deep concern over the reports of thrashing Molana Sarjan Barkati in police custody in Shopian.

“Since last nine months Molana Sarjan Barkati is languishing in jail and detention centers and he is being subjected to vengeance.”
