The Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Gani Kohli today said that the government has taken numerous innovative and exemplary measures to revitalize the overall development profile of hilly and remote areas.

Kohli said that people friendly policies have started yielding results at grassroots level and reaffirmed that efforts of the government were directed towards restoration of complete peace and achieve prosperity in the State.

Addressing series of public meetings today at Bhimbar Gali, Tuta Gali, Kalar Jaranwali Gali and Lassana Kalai in Surankote area of district Poonch, the Minister said the State government with the liberal financial assistance from the Centre has started mega projects with thrust on upgrading road connectivity, drinking water, power, healthcare and educational facilities in every nook and corner of the State.

The Minister said that overall socio-economic transformation of the people tops the agenda of the coalition government. He said several welfare schemes are in vogue in this regard and people should come forward to take benefit of these schemes. “Our motive is to change the destiny of weaker sections and people friendly schemes under implementation are proving beneficial for poor especially living in hilly and Kandi areas,” Kohli said.

Responding to the demands of the people, the Minister said that several projects under various sectors have been taken up in Surankote area to upgrade the infrastructure and other basic facilities. He said special thrust is being laid to upgrade the road communication in the area. He said providing better healthcare to live stock is also priority of the government and in this regard efforts are on to setup more livestock units in the area.

The Minister appealed the people not to pay heed to false propaganda of inimical forces, whose motive is only to create wedge among the communities and use the innocent people for their vested interests. “People should not allow the miscreants to create wedge among the communities. Our State is abode of amity, brother hood and communal harmony”, he said and added that government would not allow anybody to harm the peace and prosperity of the State.
