Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti meets Modi, discusses Kashmir situation

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in view of detoriating situation in the valley.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mufti said that there is a need for discussion with the partiers concerned to improve the situation in the state.

 “It is important to hold talks at the latest… There is a need for conducive atmosphere for talks, and for governance,” CM told media after the meeting.

Mehbooba Muftii said that the low voting percentage in the by-polls of Srinagar constituency was also discussed with the Prime Minister.

Mufti said PM Modi has assured her that he would follow the policies laid down by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to resolve the Kashmir issue.

“Modi ji has repeatedly said he would follow in Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s footsteps, whose policy is of reconciliation not confrontation,” she said, according to ANI.

The CM, too, reiterated that the only way out of the crisis was to resume the dialogue process initiated by Vajpayee.

“Jahan par Vajpayee ji chhor gaye the, wahin se issko aage le jaana padega nahin toh J&K ki haalat sudharne ka koi chance nahin hai” She told ANI

The PDP leader also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today at his residence.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mufti said, “In next 2-3 months, you will see the situation completely changed in J&K”.

 She also said that the state government requires support from everyone to improve situation.
