Winds, hailstorm damages houses, crops

Strong winds and hailstorm during the last 24 hours damaged houses, fruit and vegetable crops in the Valley, reports said.

The high speed winds and hailstorm that was followed by a heavy downpour damaged several rooftops of the houses besides causing damage to the fruits and crops in several parts of the Valley.

Sources said that the number of trees and electric poles were also uprooted in several area thereby resulted in the disruption of electricity supply.

The strong winds and hailstorm long lasted for half an hour.

Meanwhile, intermittent rains continued to lash Valley since the wee hours of this morning.

The officials in the Meteorological (MeT) department said that the light to moderate rains would occur at many places in the next 24 hours across the state.

“There is possibility of light to moderate rains, thundershower at many places in the next 24 hours across the Valley,” they said, adding that there is possibility of occasional sunshine as well.
