Jammu will get adequate potable water supply during summers: Sham Lal Choudhary

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said that there will be no scarcity of drinking water to the people during summer season.

This was stated by the Minister during review meeting held here today in which he directed the officers to ensure that water pumps in Jammu remain properly functional, besides keeping a provision of surplus motors at the pumping stations so that people get regular water supply during the summer season.

He further directed the officers to maintain inventory of the water pumps, motors and other machinery of the department lying defunct in the workshops. He asked them to get the damaged machinery repaired at the earliest and keep surplus machinery on stand-by at PHE stations, wherever needed.

The Minister asked the officers to set-up Control Rooms at division level so that the complaints of the common masses can be quickly addressed.      He directed that Junior Engineers should closely monitor the complaints regarding leakage in water pipes in their areas and get them repaired immediately so that the wastage of water can be checked and people get clean drinking water regularly.

He further instructed the officers to regularly conduct field visits for checking water supply position and inform him about the new steps being taken by them for augmenting water supply in their respective areas.

Chief Engineer, PHE Susheel Aima, Executive Engineers and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
