DDC Kupwara reviews progress on de-silting of irrigation Khuls

District Development Commissioner Kupwara, G. M. Dar, today visited Unisoo, Ujroo and

Malbagh areas of the district to inspect ongoing de-siltation of irrigation systems, also known as Khuls,

in view of upcoming irrigation season.

It was given out that the Rural Development Department in collaboration with I&FC Department has

undertaken desilting of khuls under convergence mode for the last 25 days.

During the visit, the DDC instructed the officials of I&FC Department to make water pump station

functional within 15 days in Unisoo. Besides, he directed officials of R&B Department for restoration

work at Ujroo where road skidded recently.

He also directed the officers of Agriculture Department to sensitize farmers about benefits of adopting

double-cropping methods for increasing yield.

ADC Handwara, CPO Kupwara, Executive Engineers of I&FC, R&B, PMGSY, PHE, and Electric Division

Handwara, besides Assistant Director Fisheries and District Officer Geology and Mining accompanied the

DDC during the visit.
