Provide  people  all  possible  assistance to  flood  hit   victims: Minister

To assess post flood situation, Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today visited various flood affected areas of Pattan constituency of Baramulla district.
 
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Husain, SDM & Tehsildar Pattan, Officers of flood Control Department Irrigation, PDD, PHE, RDD and officers of various departments.
 
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the situation of flood affected villages particularly Kanloo where a residential house was damaged due to landslides. He also visits Hamray, Hanjivera villages and other areas of Pattan constituency where he   interacted with the people and assured them of every possible support.
 
The Minister impressed upon the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the situation and provide all possible assistance to the affected people. Meanwhile, the Minister directed the Irrigation and Flood control department for renovating and widening of flood channels so that any eventuality with regard to floods can be tackled.
 
During the visit Ansari took a comprehensive account of the various sectors in the Pattan constituency and sought reports from the officers concerned regarding the condition of roads in the area. He directed them to ensure availability of electricity and water supply to the people and emphasized that the primary priority of the administration must be to provide every basic amenity to the common man and sought coordination from all district and sectoral officers.
 
He  also reviewed progress of various projects undertaken under State/Central Schemes and directed the officers to gear up the pace of works executed in the constituency under these schemes .
 
The Deputy Commissioner, on the occasion informed the Minister that various initiatives have already been taken to assess the damage to both residential and non residential structures, horticulture and other allied sectors due to heavy rains and snowfalls. He also said that the administrative machinery has already been activated to combat any emergency situation, moreover, affected families have been relocated and tents, blankets and ration have already been provided to them.
