Stokes Says Money Cannot Change Player’s Approach

Ben Stokes might have been the most expensive buy in the auction ahead of this year’s Indian Premier League, but the English all-rounder says that it doesn’t change the way he approaches the game. Stokes says that the pressure is from within and has nothing to do with the money he is getting from Pune.

“I don’t think there is any pressure because I am the most expensive buy. For me, the pressure has always come from within. Also, it doesn’t change the way I am approaching the games. I would have had the same approach even if I wasn’t the most expensive buy,” Stoke said in a video posted by Pune on Twitter.

Stokes goes on to add that it has been a delight playing along the likes of stars like MS Dhoni and Steven Smith.

“You generally get to see them only when they are on the field and sometimes they are completely different characters off the pitch. This is a great opportunity to come and know these guys off the field as that doesn’t happen very often,” he smiled.

Stokes also loves the adulation that cricketers get in the country thanks to the diehard cricket fans.

“I have found it very amusing that the people follow the team bus when we are going to the ground. They seem to follow you in their cars, mopeds and bikes. You want to keep looking at the window as you don’t get to see this in England,” he revealed.

Commenting on his time with the Pune outfit, Stokes said: “The guys are very easy going and I didn’t have much to do back in England and it is good to get on the grass and get some bat on the ball.”
