Two cops, civilian injured, one militant appended: Police

Sopore: Militants on Wednesday attacked a police party and an army camp with grenades in north Kashmir’s Pattan and Rafiabad areas. The incident left two cops injured while as an attacker was also nabbed, police said.
Two policemen, including an officer, were injured in a grenade attack by militants on a police party in Pattan area, police said.
Militants hurled a grenade on a police party at a naka in Pattan area of the district this afternoon, a police official said.
He said two policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were injured in the explosion.
A police spokesman said that based on the input that some militants are travelling on Baramulla Srinagar highway, police set up a check post at Baba Teng Pattan.
“In the meanwhile a passenger vehicle was signaled to stop, however, militants boarding the vehicle lobbed a hand grenade on police party. In the incident one Police Officer Zaffar Mehdi, DySP and two policemen Shabir Ahmad and Ashiq Hussain got injured who were evacuated to hospital and are stable,” police said.
The militants fled from the scene of crime and while being chased one was caught alive, police added.
“The arrested militanst has been identified as Faizan Majeed Bhat S/OAbdul Majeed Bhat R/O Naibug Tral who had got recruited in militant ranks on October 3rd,2018. He along with other militants Showkat Ahmad Bhat R/O Awantipore who managed to escape had joined the ‘Tehreekul Mujahideen’ outfit.
Meanwhile, suspected militants lobbed a grenade on 32 RR camp at Rafiabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade on 32 RR unit at Trakpora area of Rafiabad which exploded outside the camp.
The incident left a 42 year old pedestrian identified as Muhammad Ashoor Mir son of Mukhtar Mir of Rohama Rafiabad, injured.
He was rushed to District hospital Baramulla where he was said to be in a stable condition, police added.
