Langate: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh on Saturday said that the forces didn’t even spare the ‘Gaw Maata’ during the encounter at Shatgund village of Handwara district that left PhD scholar-turned-militant, Dr Abdul Manan Wani along with his associate dead.

AIP president as per a statement issued here on Saturday visited Shartgund Bala village and its adjoining areas where he expressed sympathy with those, whose property was damaged during the encounter. He also assured them of all possible help.

On the occasion, Er Rasheed condemned use of force against civilians and accused forces of crossing all the limits. He questioned DGP and Army top brasses who always talk of showing restrain.

He sought stern action against those who picked up a youth namely Mudasir Ahmad Beigh, son of Sonaullah Beigh of Jahama, handcuffed him and then mercilessly fired bullet in his leg in presence of dozens of witnesses.

Similarly, dozens were injured and the windowpanes and other property were damaged in Shartgund Bala, Teerina, Prungroo and Qalamabad areas, he added.

AIP president also condemned Handwara police for detaining around forty youth hailing from different areas who were on way to Lolab to attend the last rites of Manan Wani.

He said that there is no reason to detain these mourners and by arresting them police has shown its ‘true colors’.

On the occasion, while reiterating unity among masses, AIP leader added that there is no substitute to right to self determination and it is the only road that leads to peace.

Er Rasheed added that those preferring cows over humans were so ruthless that they fired on an innocent ‘Gaw Maata’.

He challenged those making hue and cry to protect cows to initiate action against those who proved brutal not to humans only but to cows also and asked them to “answer that if they don’t treat Kashmiri cow pious.”

Er Rasheed also condemned the continuous harassment of Kashmiri students outside J&K especially in Aligarh Muslim University and said that party will carry a peaceful march in Srinagar tomorrow against harassment of Kashmiri students and their suspension from AMU.
