Rains, snowfall bring down temperatures in Valley

Srinagar: Kashmir Valley witnessed a fall of 8 degrees in day time temperature on Saturday as rains and fresh snowfall in Zojila area led to change in weather conditions.
A MeT spokesman said that Srinagar recorded a maximum of 20.1 Degrees Celsius on Saturday against a normal of 28 degrees.
The day time temperature witnessed a fall after the Zojila pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway received two inches of snowfall, the season’s first owing to a fresh western disturbance that touched the state.
Reports said that though the highway remained open for vehicular traffic but the snowfall and rains brought down the day time temperature in the valley.
Meanwhile, rains continued to lash parts of Kashmir valley on Saturday as a medium to heavy downpour was witnessed in many areas.
The Met also predicted that at few places in Jammu & Kashmir, isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh wide spread rains will be witnessed.
