Thousands bid adieu to slain militants, accomplices offer gun salute
Kulgam: Thousands of people from different areas of South Kashmir participated in the funeral prayers of slain militants in Khudwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
The militants identified as a top Hizb commander Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Altaf Kachroo and Umar Rashid were killed in Muniward area of Anantnag district today.
As soon as news of killing of Kachru spread in south Kashmir, a large number of people started marching towards Khudwani village amid pro-freedom sloganeering.
Men, Women and children in large numbers gathered at the ground where the funeral for the slain militant was held while as many locals were seen distributing eatables among the mourners who had come from far off places to participate in the funeral prayers.
The local mourners were in deep shock over the death of longest surviving militant, Altaf Kachroo.
On the way to the funeral ground, pro-freedom Taranas were being played on the loudspeaker of the Masjid’s as youth in large numbers from every part of South Kashmir reached the ground in vehicles.
Meanwhile, militants appeared in the funeral prayers of both the slain militants and offered gun salute to them.
As per reports, at least four militants appeared in the funeral of Umar at Khudwani and offered gun salute while at Hawoora at least 15 militants including some top commanders appeared in the funeral of Altaf Kachru and offered salute to the slain commander.
LeT district commander Azad Malik alias Dada, Hilal Wani and other top militant appeared in his funeral prayers, eye-witnesses said.
Meanwhile, the slain militants were laid to rest at their native villages after several rounds of funeral prayers.
