Youth hit by bullet during clashes in Shopian
Shopian: At least two youth sustained injuries in the clashes that erupted during the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Tengwan village of Keegam Tehsil in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Sources said that soon after the forces launched search operation, youth took to streets and started pelting stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke and sound shells to disperse the agitating youth.
In the forces action, two youth received injures while one among them identified as Fayaz Ahmad Padroo of Poterwal village received a bullet injury.
Local sources said during search operation one local youth identified as Shakeel Ahmad Baba was also arrested.
Earlier, a joint team of RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Officials at the district hospital confirmed that two injured youth were brought to the hospital for the treatment.
They said that the youth who was hit by a bullet has been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
They also informed that the youth who was has received pellet injuries is being treated in the district hospital.
