Er Rasheed detained, deported to Kashmir from Banihal
Spokesman says ‘Jammu Muslims left on the mercy of communal goons’
Srinagar: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh was on Friday detained by the police and CRPF and was deported back to Kashmir, a spokesman said.
According to the statement issued here, AIP spokesman said that Er Rasheed was on a three-day tour to Jammu province to express solidarity with Jammu Muslims and to grab support for Advocate Talib currently in police custody.
The party spokesman, Advocate Majid Banday said that Er Rasheed was to address several public meetings in Jammu province and was supposed to address a gathering at Banihal after Friday prayers.
“However, a heavy contingent of police and CRPF detained Er. Raheed at the other side of Jawahar Tunnel and didn’t allow him to proceed further,” he said.
While condemning the police action, the spokesman said that the Muslims in Jammu have been left on the mercy of communal goons and biased police force.
“It is unfortunate that the genuine voice of people is being suppressed and whosoever intends to raise his voice against the atrocities is forced to either shut the mouth or his movement is restricted,” he said.
He said that AIP leadership will never scum to these dirty tactics but will continue to speak for deprived masses cutting across regional, religious and ethnic affiliations. “The state administration must understand that by disrespecting voice of elected people New Delhi is disgracing itself and Er. Rasheed is exposing the myth of Indian democracy facing all odds,” he said.
The spokesman assured people of Jammu that entire Kashmiri nation are at the back of Jammu Muslims who are facing ‘state sponsored terror’ only to increase the vote bank of BJP.
