PDD employees protest against alleged negligence of deptt
Sopore: Hundreds of Employees from Power Development Department (PDD) unit Sopore on Monday held a sit-in protest at PDD office Sopore against the alleged negligence of department due to which a 45-year-old daily wager died.
Mohammad Ramzan Lone (45), son of Ali Mohammad Lone, resident of Nowpora Jageer was electrocuted to death when he was electrocuted while performing his duty at Sopore on last Saturday.
The employees of PDD Sopore suspended the work at receiving station and demanded justice to the casual labour who was electrocuted to death.
They said that department should look after the family of Ramzan as he belongs to poor family and had served department for at least 20 years.
Protesting employees said that this was the 3rd such incident in Sopore town in which a poor daily wager lost his life while many sustained critical injuries during performing the duties.
They lamented that the higher officials from the department didn’t visit the family of the deceased labourer and no compensation was provided to them.
