Cop killed as militants strike at police post in Pulwama
Attackers decamp with two weapons, searches launched
Srinagar: A policeman was killed and another injured after militants attacked a police post guarding the National Conference (NC) leader’s house at Muran Chowk in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Monday.
Police officials said that suspected militants opened fire upon the police party, guarding the NC leaders house Ghulam Mohidin at Rajpora near Muran Chowk.
The incident left two policemen seriously injured who were taken to a nearby hospital where one among the critically injured constable’s identified as Mudasir Ahmad was declared brought dead, they said.
Another injured constable Nazir Ahmad was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment, they added.
The militants according to reports decamped with the service rifles of the two cops, added the officials.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary also confirmed the attack and death of a cop in the attack.
He also confirmed snatching of two weapons from the policemen.
The entire area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the assailants, he added. (GNS)
