Senior govt official booked on corruption charges
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has registered a case against a senior government officer posted in Reasi district for allegedly amassing assets by indulging in corrupt and illegal practices.
A formal case was registered against Assistant Commissioner Development, Reasi, M Y Malik under various sections of prevention of corruption act, a spokesman of the SVO said today.
He said the case was registered on the basis of reliable input that Malik took advantage of his lucrative postings to amass assets, both movable and immovable, which were highly disproportionate to his income.
Teams of vigilance department raided various places in Jammu and Reasi including the house and office of the accused after a formal case was registered against him, the spokesman said.
During the course of searches, it was found that expenditures worth crores were made on various immovable properties raised by him, the spokesman said.
