Shopian-Badrihama road in shambles, authorities in slumber
Shopian: The residents of Nagbal, Digam and Badrihama are up in arms against the district administration for neglecting the road stretch, connecting these villages with district headquarter of Shopian.
Locals said that Shopian-Badrihama road was damaged in 2014 floods but the road continues to remain in shambles.
The road was not repaired due to which locals are facing difficulties, residents said.
Aijaz Ahmed, a local resident said that the commuters are reluctant to ply on the road as it has turned bumpy due to large sized potholes.
He added that they knocked the doors of concerned authorities several times but they failed to keep their promises.
“It is unfortunate that the local leaders and district administration have failed to pay any attention towards the area,” the locals said.
They added that there is famous temple in the area which is thronged by thousands of devotees due to the official apathy they too are facing tremendous difficulties.
Elders, students and patients are suffering mostly as they are being forced to reach the town by foot, the residents said.
Locals here urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter and redress their issue at an earliest.
Executive Engineer of Roads and Building (R&B) department district Shopian, Zahoor Ahmad said that “we will see any provision for the development of this road.”
“We are yet to receive the funds to repair the roads which got damaged due to the floods,” he said.
He also admitted that most of the roads which got damaged in floods are yet to be repaired.
