Noted journalist Shujaat Bhukhari shot at, critical
Srinagar: Noted journalist and currently Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir Shujaat Bukhari was Thursday shot at by unknown gunmen along with his PSO and driver at Press colony Lalchowk in Srinagar, reports said.
According to reports, Bhukhari along with his PSO and driver were fired upon by unknown gunmen on Thursday evening resulting in grievous injuries to the trio.
Reportedly, two motor-cycle borne gunmen fired indiscriminately upon Bhukhari when he was heading towards his home.
Bhukhari has been shifted to SMHS hospital in a critical condition, reports said.
Bhukhari has in the past been Bureau Chief of The Hindu. Shujaat has survived three assassination attempts before during his challenging career.
He did his Masters in Journalism from Ateneo de Manila University, Manila as a fellow of Asian Centre for Journalism, Singapore. He is a recipient of the World Press Institute (WPI) USA fellowship and Asian Centre for Journalism Singapore fellowship. He is a permanent fellow at both institutions. Bukhari has also been a fellow at East West Centre at Hawaii USA.
