Thousands attend last rites of slain cops
Baramulla/Kupwara: Thousands of people across the twin villages of Rafiabad and Gagal Lolab attended the last rites of the slain cops who were killed in a militant strike in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, witnesses said.
An eye witness said that thousands of mourners across Rafiabad, including men, women and elderly assembled in Wohlutra Rafiabad native village of one of the cop Ghulam Hassan Wagay who along with other cop Ghulam Rasool Lone of Gayal lolab Kupwara was killed in a militant attack.
Amid slogans Wagay was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard, witnesses said.
Wagay was killed along with other cop of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after a group of militants attacked a police post guarding a new court complex at Takiya Wagam in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during the last night. The militants also managed to take away two INSAS service rifles of the slain cops.
Meanwhile, emotional scenes were witnessed at Gagal Lolab, the native village of slain cop Ghulam Rasool.
Despite Ramadhan and hot weather conditions Gagal Lolab village of Kupwara witnessed a huge funeral procession for the slain cop.
Amid slogans, Ghulam Rasool was laid to rest in a local graveyard.
