Fresh exchange of fire in Bandipora forests
Srinagar: Amid the ongoing search operation launched by the government forces in the forests area in Bandipora, a fresh exchange of firing erupted on Wednesday as the forces were moving deep into the woods.
The search operation has been going on in the area for the last five days. However this morning as the forces were searching deep into the forest area, the militants hiding there opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons which was retaliated by the forces ensuing in an encounter.
The operation was halted last night and resumed this morning, official sources said, adding that more troops from other nearby camps have also joined the searches.
Two soldiers were injured in Monday encounter before the militants escaped deep into the forest, they said.
The entire forest has been sealed to foil any militant attempt to escape.
CASO was continuing when the reports last came in.
