Ganderbal villages decry power curtailments
Ganderbal: Power woes have grown worse in Tehsil Gund of Ganderbal district, leaving consumers high and dry.
Consumers of Ganiwan, Gund , Fraw, Haknar, Rayil and other areas of Tehsil Gund told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that electricity had been playing hide-and-seek with them. They said electricity goes off for hours even during the peak hours.
“PDD is not sparing our areas and we are subjected to frequent outages. The power department should improve the power supply,” said a local resident.
“What is the point in having a curtailment schedule in place when power is not supplied in accordance with the schedule? We are made to pay power bills in time but are putting up with an erratic power scenario,” he said.
Consumers of Haknar, Fraw in Tehsil Gund also complained of erratic power supply. They said outages have become the order of the day.
Despite being Summer and improvement in water level in the water bodies , the PDD is yet to provide electricity as per the summer schedule and on the first day of Ramadan they went for frequent outages , Ghulam Mohammad from Gund said.
We requested the officials of PDD including line men to improve the power supply, but to no avail,” he said.
“Despite payment of the power tariff in time, the power department continues to test our patience,” he said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Tehsil Gund threatened to come on roads if PDD fails to provide them uninterrupted electricity and appealed higher authorities to look into it.
