Represents India in the junior world Pencak Silat Championship 2018

Srinagar: Expressing joy over her performance in Junior World Pencak Silat Championship 2018, Srinagar girl, Farheen Fayaz who represented India in the championship said that she will try her best to bag more and more awards in the sport.

Farheen, a class 8th student of JK Public School said that she is practicing for this game from last one year and has managed to win Bronze medal by defeating her rivals in the championship that was held from 23rd to 29th April 2018 at Songkhla, Thailand.

Farheen, daughter of Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Humhama Bagandar New Airport road represented India in the junior world Pencak Silat Championship 2018.

Farheen said that she will try hard in the future to receive more and more medals for the country.

She further stated that it is very difficult to handle both studies and sports together but those students who are affiliated with the games have to work hard to manage both the things together.

She said that she started to play this game from school and later played in state level competitions following which she played in national and international level too.

Asked about her performance in the championship, she said that she was injured during the fight due to which she couldn’t win the gold medal.

Asked whether she want to make this port her career, Farheen said that “No this sport is only my hobby.”

Meanwhile, the coach of Fareen Fayaz said that she got the bronze medal in the largest event in the world in which 21 countries participated. “India is on 6th rank in the overall championship as various youth got the medals and Farheen is one among thiose participants,” he said.

“Farheen performed well and managed to win the bronze medal which is a big achievement,” he said, adding that this event wasn’t sponsored by state government. “We want the state government should sponsor such kind of sportsmen as the youth in Jammu and Kashmir have talent and government should come forward to sponsor them,” he said.
