#JusticeForAsifa: Civil Society organizes Candle-light march
Sopore: Civil Society Sopore on Monday carried out a candlelight protest into exhibit solidarity with the eight-year-old nomadic girl Asifa, who was raped and killed in Rasana, Hiranagar village of Jammu’s Kathua district in January this year.
Scores of people on this evening joined the members of protesting Civil Society Sopore at General bus stand Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Amid rains, the protesters carrying banners and placards shouted anti-government and anti-BJP slogans.
The protesters marched towards Iqbal Market Sopore and demanded capital punishment for the perpetrators of the heinous crimes.
They said the candlelight march was aimed to draw attention to violence against women all over the world, adding, the modesty of women should be respected in all ways no matter which place.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Musaleen told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that “it is not an agitation but a peaceful candlelight march. We appeal Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti to ensure that killers of Asifa are hanged.”
