Seeks shifting of Asifa’s case to Kashmir
Kupwara: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh on Wednesday led a protest march against the civilian killings in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to a statement issued here, hundreds of people joined AIP’s protest march against the killing of innocent civilians in Kulgam.
Protesters as per the statement also condemned ‘shameless’ action by a section of lawyers of Kuthua Bar who tried to stop crime branch from producing challan against the accused involved in rape and murder of eight year old Asifa.
Holding placards and calling their move ‘criminal and communal’, the protesters were demanding fast-track hearing of the case and appealed the saner voices in India to open their eyes and raise their voice against the criminals who are giving every issue a communal color.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, Er Rasheed said that it will be in the interest of justice if the case is transferred to some other court in Kashmir.
“When those who claim to be saviors of justice try to lock the door of temple of justice, there is no hope that the court can discharge its duties pertaining to the case in accordance with the law. Govt. must take a call at earliest and also take the FIR against the criminal minded lawyers and other forces to the logical end,” he said.
The protesters raised strong slogans against the civilian killings in Kulgam and appealed international community to come forward and persuade New Delhi to stop genocide against Kashmiris.
Er Rasheed said that Kashmiris have been locked in a jail and their life is totally dependent on the mercy of men in uniform. “While state terrorism is at peak the Indian media is misleading the world community to give cover up to the shameful and barbaric brutalities of security forces in Kashmir. Kashmiris on one hand are mourning the death of their beloved ones everyday but on the other hand the Indian state is engaged in a vicious campaign to prove every Kashmiri a criminal and a radical,” he added.
