GDA Spearheads Initiatives for Sustainable Tourism and Local Engagement

GULMARG: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gulmarg Development Authority presided over a significant meeting at the GDA office in Tangmarg, focusing on a plantation drive, beautification of Gulmarg, and the promotion of homestays to foster eco-friendly tourism, a spokesman of the GDA said Monday.

The meeting delved into a multitude of issues concerning the preservation and enhancement of Gulmarg’s natural beauty and its transformation into an eco-friendly tourist destination, he said.

Furthermore, extensive discussions were held regarding the development of Drung tourist destination and its surrounding areas, emphasizing the holistic growth of Gulmarg’s tourism ecosystem.

The CEO emphasized the importance of collaboration among officials to discover novel attractions that would not only draw tourists to Gulmarg but also to its neighboring regions. Model policies concerning homestays were deliberated upon, with a strong emphasis on coordination with local stakeholders eager to provide homestay accommodations for tourists.

The meeting was attended by esteemed officials including the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Tangmarg, Wildlife Warden of North Division, DFO of Social Forestry in Baramulla, District Floriculture Officer, Assistant Director of Tourism in Gulmarg, Assistant Executive Engineer of R&B Sub-Division in Gulmarg, and an Environmental Lawyer from the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
