Two killed in separate road mishaps across Kashmir

Srinagar: An auto rickshaw driver was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Sonawar area of Srinagar on Monday late night, reports said. Meanwhile, an elderly man died in a road mishap in Pattan area of north Kashmir.

An Auto rickshaw driver was hit by an unknown vehicle near Sonwar bagh on Monday late evening, reports said.

They said that the injured driver was rushed to SMHS hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, a resident of Pampore in southern Kashmir.Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, an elderly man died, while another was injured in a road accident in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

Reports said that a collision took place between a scooty and a motorcycle in Zangam area of Pattan, resulting in injuries to both the riders on Monday afternoon.

They said both the injured identified as 70-year-old Abdul Salaam Tantray, resident of Palhalan Pattan, and 34-year-old Irshad Ahmad Ganie were taken to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment, where Abdul Salaam Tantray succumbed to his injuries, however, the condition of Irshad Ahmad is said to be stable.
