Gayoor Day celebrated: Prof. Pran Nath Trisal bestowed Gayoor Memorial Life Time Achievement Award

Srinagar: Gayoor Foundation, an organization working for the promotion of art culture and social justice, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages organized a special programme in memory of Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor Andrabi, a scholar poet of Urdu and Kashmiri .
The event held in Writers Club, Academy complex, Jammu started with a prayers and a two minutes silence was observed for the departed soul which was followed by the recitation of a Nat e Sharief written by G.R. Gayoor.
The function was presided over by former Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University and a historian Prof. Rattan Lal Hangloo and those shared presidium included eminent lawyer Syed Riyaz Khawa and Prof Shohaib Inayat Mallik HOD Music & Fine Arts , Jammu University .
Er. Shoukat Gayoor, Chairman of Gayor Foundation welcomed the guests and highlighted achievements and programmes of the foundation which was followed by a paper on life and works of Ghulam Rasool Gayoor by vice Chairman of the foundation Dr. Rattan Lal Talashi.
Vijay Wali General Secretary of the Foundation conducted proceedings of the function.
A scholar Dr. Sanju kumar of Jammu University who has done his doctorate on the Gayoor’s poetry gifted his theses to the foundation and expressed his views on his poetry. Prof Shohaib Inayat Malik presented a citation for late G.R. Gayoor on behalf of Urdu Department Jammu University.
The program included singing of Gayoor’s poetry by Rajesh Khar and Kousar Rashid.
In the function a Life Time Achievement Award was presented to eminent linguist and academician Prof. Pran Nath Trisal for his selfless and meritorious contribution towards art, culture and languages of Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr Ayash Arif , a prominent Cultural Activist recited the citation for Prof . Trisal.
A poetic symposium dedicated to Ghulam Rasool Gayoor was also held on the occasion, in which galaxy of poets recited their poems, who amongst others included Kusum Dhar Sharda, Abdl Khaliq Shamas, Avtar Krishan Naaz, Nancy Chetna, Satish Safeer, Maqbool Ferozi, Fozia Mughal, Majeed Masroor, Santosh Nadan, Ashok Gowher, Rajinder Agosh, Aseer Kishtwari, Manshoor Banhali, Kirti Kapil and others.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. R.L. Hangloo praised the poetic contribution of Gayoor in both Urdu an Kashmiri languages, while as Prof. Shad Ramzan threw light on the subtle aspects of Gayoor’s poetry .
