DGP sanctions over Rs 1.42 crore welfare loan, relief
Jammu: Continuing with its commitment to assist the Police personnel financially under Police Headquarters welfare schemes, the Director General of Police, (DGP) R.R. Swain has sanctioned a welfare loan/relief exceeding Rs 1.42 crore for the benefit of 100 police personnel, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
The welfare loan/relief covers marriage expenses, medical treatment costs, and higher education aspirations of the wards of police personnel
About Rs 51 lakh has been sanctioned for 44 police personnel to assist in the marriage expenses of their sons and daughters/ self-marriage. For medical treatment expenses, Rs 72.5 lakh has been allocated to assist 48 Police personnel, with amounts ranging from Rs 01 lakh to Rs 03 lakh, he said.
In an effort to support the higher education aspirations of police personnel’s children, the DGP has also sanctioned welfare loans totalling Rs 10.5 lakh for seven police personnel. In addition to this, the DGP has also sanctioned welfare relief in favour of 28 police personnel, the spokesman added.
The welfare loans are refundable and deducted from the salaries of police personnel in monthly instalments without any interest. However, the welfare relief granted is non-refundable. These financial aid initiatives demonstrate the commitment of the Police headquarters to help the police personnel and their families, in times of need.
