DLSA Ganderbal kick-starts Pan-India Campaign for identifying juveniles in prisons
GANDERBAL: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and J&K Legal Services Authority, started Pan-India campaign for identifying juveniles in prisons and rendering legal assistance to them.
The campaign was launched by the Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Executive Chairman, NALSA on the eve of the 75th Republic Day, throughout the India, aimed at identifying persons currently in prison who were potentially minors at the time of commission of offence.
DLSA, Ganderbal under the Chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA, Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA, Ganderbal started the campaign and conducted orientation programme on the campaign on 26th of January, 2024.
In order to aware prisoners about Juvenile Justice Law, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal organized awareness programme at Subsidiary Jail Dignibal Ganderbal today.
In her address she highlighted the importance of the said campaign and make prisoners aware about the Juvenile Justice Act.
She interacted with the prisoners during her visit and took feedback about their grievances. The prisoners were also assured that the issues raised by them would be taken up with the concerned authorities.
Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel apprised the prisoners about Juvenile Justice Law and explained about the Legal Protection and Legal Aid for juveniles.
The programme was also attended by Nazir Ahmad, DySP (DAR) and Nodal Officer Subsidiary Jail, Dignibal, Incharge Officer Subsidiary Jail Dignibal, Staff and PLVs of DLSA Ganderbal.
