Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes five vehicles, arrests five persons in Baramulla

Srinagar: Cracking a whip on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized five vehicles and arrested five persons in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Saturday.

A police party seized five vehicles (4 tippers, 1 tractor) and arrested five drivers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpora and Delina. The accused drivers have been identified as Mohammad Salam Ganie son of Mohammad Ashraf resident of Lalad Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Gojree son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Drangbal, Umar Yousuf Sheikh son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Khanpora, Imran Bashir Malik son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Drangbal and Javid Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Delina Ghat.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station and further investigation have been initiated.
