Police arrests drug peddlers in Sopore and Baramlla

Srinagar: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore and Baramlla and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

He said that a police party during patrolling at Fruit Mandi crossing near Chakrodikhan Sopore intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 300 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Ghulam Rasool Najar @Mudasir son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din Najar resident of Mumkak Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 01/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said that police arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party at a checkpoint established at Chellan Boniyar intercepted one suspicious person. During search, 30 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Bashir Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Bimyar Boniyar. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Similarly, a police party at a checkpoint established at Harthrat Pattan intercepted one person. During search, 105 grams of Charas Powder like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Teli @Bhai son of Ali Mohammad resident of Khore Sherabad Pattan. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police station and further investigation have been initiated, the spokesman added.
