Seize pistols, hand grenades during search ops in Poonch
Jammu/Rajori/ Poonch: Security forces on Friday launched a search operation in a forest area in Rajouri district following information about the movement of suspicious elements, officials said.
Acting on the information from the Muradpur area of Kalakote, security forces launched the operation in the Afla, Muradpur, Bothni and Swani areas, they said.
Nothing came up so far, the officials said, adding the operation is still underway.
Last year, a similar suspicious sighting was reported in the same area, they said.
Forces also seized arms and ammunition, including three pistols and four hand grenades, during a search operation in Poonch district, police sources said.
The search was conducted by a team comprising personnel of the police and the Army in the Kasblari area of the district, they said.
Three pistols, six magazines, four hand grenades and 64 rounds were seized from a house, the sources said.
Following the recovery, an investigation has been launched to track down people involved in the cross-border smuggling of weapons, they added.
