Pulwama: Traders in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have expressed their resentment as authorities are dumping garbage in old bus stand Pulwama.

The traders said that the old bus stand area is the business hub of the town and dumping garbage here has meant loss of business for the traders as locals have stopped visiting the place.

They said that dumping garbage in the business hub is attracting dogs in large numbers thereby reducing the number of visitors to the place.

Mukhtar Ahmad, a trader said that the market is the face of the town and this act of municipal body has put the lives of people in danger.

He said that if the trend continues then the traders have to be either rehabilitated or the practice of dumping garbage needs to be stopped.

The traders said that the issue was brought to the notice of concerned authorities several times, but to no avail.

They said whenever higher ups are informed about the issue they assure that action will be taken but nothing is being done on ground.

They requested Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to personally intervene in the matter so that traders won’t suffer anymore.
