Voter’s awareness campaign kicks-off in Ganderbal
GANDERBAL: In view of forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, a voter’s awareness campaign was formally started in District Ganderbal Saturday which was flagged-off by the Deputy District Election Officer Ganderbal.
A team of dedicated officers and officials of the District Election Office Ganderbal were also present on the occasion.
The demonstration campaign of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and VVPAT shall continue till February 29, 2024. The campaign is aimed to educate voters about the use of EVMs and VVPATs and their significance in the electoral process.
During the period, the team along with District level Master Trainers shall visit all 123 polling locations covering 260 polling stations across the district to demonstrate the process of voting through EVMs.
EROs, Nodal Officer SVEEP, AEROs, dedicated AEROs, BLO Supervisors and BLOs have been sensitized to make the programme successful by involving all the stakeholders.
Day before, a detailed training was imparted to a five member team of District Level Master Trainers under the Supervision of Deputy District Election Officer who is also the State Level Master Trainer (SLMT) in his office chamber.
The said team was directed to provide wide training/ awareness about how to register a vote by physical demonstrations involving all the three units of EVM (i.e CU, BU and VVPAT).
The awareness campaign will see a mobile van equipped with EVMs and VVPATs and educational material touring all polling locations in both Assembly constituencies of District Ganderbal.
The van will halt at designated locations where voters can interact with election officials, learn about the voting process, and even participate in mock polls.
To further enhance voter understanding, demonstration centres for EVMs at both Assembly Constituencies (17- Kangan and 18- Ganderbal) and one at the District headquarter has been set up. The aim of these centres is to allow voters to practice their vote using EVMs and clarify all doubts.
