Police arrests notorious bootlegger in Sopore, Illicit liquor recovered
Srinagar: Acting tough against the social crimes, police arrested a notorious bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Amargrah crossing intercepted a suspicious person carrying two bags, who was signalled to stop for checking. However, the said person after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
During search, 39 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie resident of Banpora Langate. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 116/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been taken up, he added.
