Police arrests drug peddler in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Friday.

He said that a police party during routine naka checking near Sumbal Bridge intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, 2Kgs 720grams of poppy bulbs concealed in a white nylon bag was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Joginder Paul son of Diwan Chand resident of Blore Pathankot Punjab. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 310/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Ganderbal & investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
