Vigilance Awareness Week: District Administration Sopore organized programme on corruption

Sopore : In connection with ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week, the District Administration Sopore on the directions of Government Wednesday organized a programme with the theme “Say no to corruption; Commit to the Nation” here at Meeting Hall of ADC office Sopore with a view to spread awareness and promote good governance amongst the employees.

On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner(ADC) Sopore Shabir Raina Ahmad who is also the District Vigilance Officer administered an integrity pledge to all officers and officials sensitizing them about ill effects of the corruption.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina, and Tehsildar Sopore Manzoor Ahmad Lone, chief  Executive officer MC Sopore Tariq Ahmad Reshi, Industrial Easted  President Javid Ahmad Bhat ,Traders Federation President Haji Mohammd Ashraf Ganaie, Fruits mandi Sopore President Fayaz Ahmad Malik and civil society Sopore other senior Officers and officials of Administration Sopore  were also present.

Addressing the workshop, the ADC Sopore underscored the significance of the programme and called upon the Officers/Officials to maintain integrity, transparency, accountability and justice at all levels while implementing Government schemes so that people do not face any inconvenience. He urged all to work with dedication and honesty and highlighted the role of education in inculcating moral, ethical values so that newer generations can imbibe values of integrity.

The ADC further said governance reforms are pivotal for corruption free society and various reform measures have been taken during recent past through technological interventions like BEAMS, DBT, Empowerment App, online Revenue Services, etc. to ensure accountable, transparent and corruption free Governance Architecture so that benefits of Government schemes percolate to genuine beneficiaries and payments are transferred to Vendors without any intermediary.

The ADC also underscored that citizens participation is imperative in eradication of corrupt practices at all levels and people must also be made aware about the ill effects of corruption and reformative measures need to be taken to end such anti-poor, anti-development and anti-economic activity.

He laid stress on working in coordinated manner in fighting against the menace of corruption and highlighted the role/responsibility of the government servants in weeding out the corruption from the society.

Meanwhile, similar functions and pledge taking ceremonies were also held in all other government offices of Sopore town.
