Police arrests two drug peddlers in Kulgam

Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

He said that a police party at a specific checkpoint established at Nippora intercepted two persons who after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.

During search, six Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in two nylon bags was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Surjeet Singh and Sunil Singh both sons of Sukhdev Singh residents of Dheeran Ramnagar, Udhampur. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, he added.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 181/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman said.
