According to the historical account in “Guldasta Kashmir” by Harpogal Koul, Lodhoo Pandit, a minister during the years 2409-72 KE, founded the village and constructed a remarkable Temple.

This ancient Shiva Temple, that defines time itself, a true gem in the heart of Ladhoo, stands proudly in the middle of a pond fed by a natural spring. Its unique architecture dates back to the 8th century A.D. With its simple yet captivating design, the temple features square exteriors, circular interiors, and minimal adornments. The entrance, crowned with a horseshoe-shaped arch and a triangular pediment, adds a touch of grandeur.

The circular sanctum boasts a domical roof built with Kanjur stone, creating a divine ambience. While the temple’s name remains a mystery, it is affectionately referred to as “The Ancient Temple of Ladhoo.”

Hold your horses! There’s more to Ladhoo than just its ancient temple. As the mercury rises and summer takes hold, the village comes alive with the joyful sounds of boys beating the heat in the village pond. This picturesque oasis, nestled within the lush landscape, serves as their refreshing sanctuary.

Laughter echoes across the water as they splash and play, finding solace from the scorching sun. The pond, Sanz Haer Nag, fed by a natural spring, designed with steps on one of its parallel sides, offers a haven for locals and visitors to sit along the banks and relish the enchanting view. The highlight of this idyllic scene is the mesmerizing sight of boys enjoying themselves and feeding the fish that populate the pond. It’s a symphony of carefree moments and pure bliss.

Just 750 metres away from the pond, the village unfolds its captivating beauty with sprawling paddy fields and saffron fields. In the evening, the scenic roads become a favourite spot for strolls, as locals and farmers gather the lush greens and grass for their cattle.
