Police busts sex racket in Baramulla, two women among six people held

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla busted a sex racket and arrested six persons including two women, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

He said that police received an information through reliable sources that some persons are involved in immoral activities in a rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla.

Acting upon the information, a Police Party busted the prostitution racket. The racket was run by a tenant identified as Lateef Ahmad Chechi son of Mohammad Younis Chechi resident of Malangam Bandipora, besides, Altaf Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Kralhar Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad Chechi son of Abdul Rashid Chechi resident of Malangam Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Khan son of Saifuddin Khan resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla and two female sex workers (name withheld) were also detained, the spokesman added.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.136/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been initiated, he said.
