It is the distinctive characteristic of Islam that it equally emphasizes the need to fulfill the responsibilities owed to mankind as it enjoins to fulfill the responsibilities owed to Allah. Hence, to achieve this, on the day of Eid, Muslims have been exhorted to take care of the poor and the needy as they are commanded to engage in acts of worship. It is only by including others in his happiness that a Muslim can attain the true happiness of Eid. Eid means joy. Let’s stand by family, relatives, neighbours and all the poor, distressed and helpless people of the society and share the joy of Eid with all.

During Eid, it is important to keep the less privileged in mind to create change in their lives. As many of us enjoy the benefits of Eid gatherings with tables full of food, we must remember those who are displaced and poverty-stricken. Meat is scarce and often expensive. As we feed those closest to us, we have to consider the needs of our brothers and sisters who are in need.

As Muslims, it is our responsibility to ensure that we include everyone in our Eid celebrations, and that we do not exclude those who may not have the means to celebrate in the same way as us. This means being mindful of our behaviour, and ensuring that we treat everyone with kindness and compassion. One way we can do this is by sharing our blessings with those who are less fortunate. This could mean donating money or food to charity, or simply reaching out to those in need in our community and offering our support. By doing so, we can help to ensure that everyone has a happy and enjoyable Eid.

We should also remember to be respectful of others during Eid. This means being mindful of cultural differences and ensuring that we do not impose our own beliefs or practices on others. It also means being considerate of those who may not be able to celebrate Eid in the same way as us, and ensuring that we do not make them feel excluded or marginalized. It show mercy to mankind and to have compassion for them is a great form of worship. It is also an effective means to attain the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.

On the day of Eid, every Muslim should look at his surroundings and help the needy. By the grace of Allah, this work is already being undertaken both at individual and community levels, however, there is still scope for a lot of betterment. This work should not be confined to just providing them with good food and dress on the day of Eid.

Rather, keep in touch with them and continue to help them. Give them work and encourage them. This will be a continuing favour upon them. In this manner, we should try to uplift the less fortunate ones. It is possible that on the next Eid, they will be helping other people. By stabilizing the social economy, we will also be raising society’s moral standard and in this way, a better society will be established taking privilege of Eid.

In conclusion, Eid is a time of celebration, but it is also a time to remember our responsibility to the poor and underprivileged in our communities. By sharing our blessings, being mindful of our behaviour, and treating others with kindness and compassion, we can help to ensure that everyone has a happy and enjoyable Eid

In the Quran, Allah (swt) says: “Help one another in acts of piety and righteousness. And do not assist each other in acts of sinfulness and transgression. And be aware of Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment” (Quran 5:2). Abu Dharr reported, ’The Prophet (saw) said, “O Abu Dharr, when you cook a stew, put more water in the broth and take care of your neighbours“’. [Muslim]

“Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know”’. [Bukhari]
