Police arrests two drug peddlers in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Jheel Bridge Pattan arrested a drug peddler who was trying to flee from the spot after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Ghulam Hussain Ganie son of Mohammad Hatim resident of Kripalpora Payeen During search, 70 grams of Cannabis Powder was recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, a police party of PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Delina Baramulla intercepted a vehicle (Sumo) bearing registration number JK05B-0111 driven by Raakib Bashir Hurrah son of Bashir Ahmad Hurrah resident of Kanispora Baramulla. During search, 12 grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Both the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, the spokesman added.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, he said.
