Dear Sir,

As voting for the Karnataka Assembly elections came to a close, most exit polls gave the Congress an advantage, with three of them giving the grand old party a clear majority in a close race with the ruling BJP.

Exit poll speculation indicates that there is a clear anti-incumbency for Bommai led BJP in the state. The election results surely turns out be very interesting. Karnataka is the first southern state where the BJP has formed a government and it has never returned an incumbent government to power after a full five-year term since last six decades.

While the BJP, buoyed by a strong campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, looks to return to power, the Congress aims for a strong comeback ahead of the 2024 parliamentary polls. The elections witnessed a high-stake battle between the incumbent BJP, Congress and JD(S). According to the Election Commission, voters turnout of 72% is certainly a good development in the state.
