Anantnag: The resident of Waniham, Nowgam and its adjacent areas in Dialgam hamlet of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded macadamisation of the vital Wanihama-Nowgam road.

The residents of the area said that commuters are having a tough time due to dilapidated condition of the road.

They said the road is a vital link connecting dozens of villages with Anantnag besides tourist spots Achabal, Kokernag and others.

Sameer Ahmad, a local resident said that road is dotted with potholes, but it hasn’t been repaired or macadamised for years now.

There have been several years since the road has been macadamized and the road is lying in dilapidated condition due to which they are suffering, he said.

Shakeel Ahmad, another local said that road is connecting several villages with each other and the government has failed to give any attention towards it.

“Even minor lanes have been macadamised but this vital route despite being close to the Anantnag town has been neglected,” he said.

Locals said that they have approached the authorities several times in this regard but the road hasn’t been macadamized as of now.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and macadamise the road so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
