Govt Polytechnic College Kishtwar hosts Standard Writing and Debate competition

KISHTWAR: Government Polytechnic College Kishtwar on Wednesday organized Standard Writing and Debate competition  providing the students an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The event started at 12.00 noon in the premises of the institute with different curricular activities as per the guidelines laid down by The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). As many as 40 Students of 4th and 6th Semester participated in the event hosted by Er. Dheeraj Prakash Shan, mentor & Resource Person of the BIS.

The objective of organizing such an event was to create awareness regarding the importance of the standards to the students.

The Student standard club Mentor described the motive of the event to the participating students and informed them about different types of standards published by BIS such as products, methods of tests, Code of practices, Service Standards etc, with some common examples of day-to-day life.

He also explained the importance of standards to the students. He guided the students on the structure of an Indian Standard covering classes such as Foreword, Scope, References, Raw Materials requirements, finished product requirements, methods of sampling and testing, packaging & marking requirements etc.

The Students gave excellent performances in standard writing and debate competition on different Standards. It was very difficult for the Judges to decide the winners as all the students gave amazing performances.

Tania Ara, student of 4th Semester Civil Engineering bagged the first Prize; Archit Padha, student of 6 Semester, Electrical Engineering was awarded the 2nd Prize, while Nassir Ayub Student of 6 Semester Civil Engineering was awarded with 3 Prize.

Canna Devi and Mohd Ikhlass received the Consultation Prizes.

Principal Er. Mahmood Ahmad congratulated the winners and appreciated Mentor, all faculty members & participant students for making the event a great success.

He encouraged the students to follow the standards in developing skills and making best use of the BIS standards in daily life.

Er. Sanjay Kumar Gupta HoD of the institution thanked the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for taking this initiative in the welfare of the society.

The event concluded with refreshment to all the participants. The program was coordinated by  Suman Sen, Er. Krishma Parihar, Er. Vikas Sharma, Er. Haroon Waza, Er. Arg Singh, Rakesh Kumar and other supporting staff of the institution.
