DC Kulgam reviews functioning of Education department

KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Tuesday convened a meeting of the officers of the Education Department to review the overall functioning of the department in the district.

During the meeting, the DC enquired in detail about the number of schools, enrollment of children, facilities of electricity and drinking water in these schools besides functioning of labs etc.

Through a powerpoint presentation, the CEO informed the chair that there are 814 government and 232 private schools in the district with a total enrollment of 90574 students in these schools.

He also shared that 29539 text book sets from 1st to 8th were provided.

The DC emphasized upon the officers to ensure quality of teaching learning process and instructed them to start a school for the specially-abled Children.

He also stressed officers to take concrete and coordinated measures to strengthen the education system and put in extra efforts to increase enrollment in Government schools.

He also stressed upon the importance of regular and effective monitoring of functioning of the schools for better outcome and instructed the ZEOs to conduct frequent visits to schools in their jurisdictions.

While reviewing the functioning of Eklavya Model Residential School Tangmarg, the DC emphasized the significance of providing quality education to tribal students.

He further stressed the importance of ensuring that the students have access to all necessary resources to excel in their academic pursuits, including extra-curricular activities.

He emphasized for developing a much better, conducive and attractive atmosphere in schools to ensure that all schools have electricity and toilet facilities.

During the meeting the DC also reviewed progress and achievements recorded under UT Capex, District Capex, SAMAGRA and other components during the financial year 2022-23.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; JDP Zahid Sajjad; CEO, Mushtaq Ahmad Qadri; ZEOs and other concerned officers.
