Police arrests drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered

Srinagar: Police arrested several drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that in Baramulla, a police party at a checkpoint established at Khushalpora Delina intercepted a vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration number JK01AS-5295 drive by one person.

During checking, officers were able to recover 10 grams of Cocaine and 15 grams of Charas like substances from his possession. He has been identified as Jaleel Ahmad Shah son of Nazir Ahmad Shah resident of Kanispora. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Pertinently, that during the past 4 months, Police in Baramulla have registered 115 cases under NDPS Act, arrested 156 drug peddlers including 10 most wanted drug smugglers, detained 9 drug peddlers under PSA and recovered contraband substances worth crores (value of contraband in black market).

In Sopore, a police party during naka checking at Bagat Colony Rohama intercepted two suspicious persons. During checking, 113 grams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Muhammad Lateef Lone son of Muhammad Sultan Lone and Aadil Ahmad Lone son of Muhammad Rajab Lone both residents of Naidhal Rafiabad. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

In Ganderbal, a police party during patrolling near Satkreeri intercepted a vehicle (Wagnor) bearing registration number DL2CAK-3882 with two persons on board. During checking, contraband substances were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Ghlam Mohammad Ahanger son of Ghulam Ahmad Ahanger resident of Nesbal and Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Kharbagh. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.

In another such action police arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party at a checkpoint established at Jamal Mir Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01L-4881 with three persons on board who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 145 gams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Gojri son of Mohd Ramzan Gojri resident of Jamia Mohalla Pattan, Naseer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat resident of Pattan and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sada son of Mohd Subhan Sada resident of Aram Mohalla Pattan. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
