National Deworming Day held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: National Deworming Day was Monday held at Anantnag, an official spokesman said.

The event was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani.

The inaugural event was held at Govt Girls High School, Lal Chowk Anantnag in which faculty, students and officials from district administration were present.

At the occasion, ADDC said that youth are the future of the nation and public intervention like these will be critical in ensuring that the children are healthy and able contributors to nation building.

He talked in detail regarding the aim of organizing such events and exhorted children to participate in the process. He said that every child in the district will undergo the deworming process where Albendazole tablets will be administered to them. He said children between 1 – 19 years are being covered under this program and it is an annual process.

Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Dr MY Zagoo who was present on the occasion said the day is being celebrated throughout the district and children will be given medicine in all the educational institutions. He said that around 2.75 lakh children will be given the medicine in the district.

The ADDC administered the medicine to one of the students at the school on the occasion.
