Extension lecture on ‘Antiquity of Glaciation in Western Himalaya’ organised

SRINAGAR: An extension lecture under ‘India’s leadership in G20 Summit – 2023’ covered under Sustainable Development Goals themed ‘Methodology adopted to participate in mitigation of Climate change’ was organized by Post Graduate Department of Geography, Amar Singh College Srinagar.

The programme was held at Taseer Hall where chief guest Prof. Milap Chand Sharma, Professor of Geomorphology at Jawaharlal Nehru University delivered a lecture on “Antiquity of Glaciation in Western Himalaya”.

The expert gave an insight over Glaciation in western Himalayas especially Himachal with focus on timing of Glaciation and de-glaciation. He highlighted the role of anthropogenic activities and natural process in glacial recession.

At the beginning Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather, Principal Amar Singh College introduced and welcomed the Guest.

The Programme was attended by students and faculty of Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Public Administration and other allied discipline.

At the end, Prof. Milap answered the queries of faculty and students in detail.
